The only difference in our senior years is that we may have to be a bit more open. Ask for a little help. All that honesty makes for a truer human experience, one in which we can receive—and give—love. An even exchange of blessing.
Independent Living
Many seniors remain healthy and active enough to want community living without needing care services. For these residents we offer the amenities and pure fun of The Cottages at Dayton Place (free-standing homes) and MorningStar at Dayton Place (suite rental) on adjacent sites in Southeast Denver.
We offer our Independent Living residents services of a non-medical nature:
• Handle emergencies during the night
• Respond to emergency call system
• Assist with dressing in the morning
• Wash dishes, empty trash, spot clean
• Make beds
• Do personal laundry weekly (additional fee applies)
• Encourage participation in activities and programs<
• Remind about appointments for beauty shop, physicians, etc.
• Assist with U.S. mail
Assisted Living
For our Assisted Living residents, MorningStar offers four levels of help with the activities of daily living: minimal; moderate; more frequent and intensive; and extensive. In all cases, around-the-clock Care Managers ensure your safety and meet your needs.
It is our staff’s responsibility to remember you prefer coffee with cream, or that you hail from Youngstown, Ohio. It is our pleasure to help you choose a dress for church or dinner out. It is our gift to respond to you with thoughtfulness, to instill confidence in all that you are.
Memory Care
For residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related conditions, we offer a gentle home in our secure Reflections Neighborhood situated within many of our communities. Whether your loved one is in the onset of this disease or in advanced, potentially self-injurious phases, we can help. Through a resident-directed approach, our staff use multi-sensory cues (including aromatherapy) to calm and to awaken memories, to support capabilities and, above all, to affirm dignity and value.
- Staff specially trained in therapeutic approaches to care
- Recreational and purposeful activities, including music, life skills, art, entertainers and exercise
- Scheduled outings and special events
- Daily health monitoring
- Assistance with meals prepared by an Executive Chef
- Gracious and functional spaces, including strolling paths and all-season porches
- Suites that accommodate resident’s own furniture and mementos
A Candid Word to the Spouse or Adult Child
Perhaps all this talk about senior care is attended with feelings of guilt. You wish you could open your own home to your loved one. But other commitments and constraints prevent you. Perhaps you are now the caregiver, and feel apprehensive about leaving that role to someone else.
Please know we are here not to replace you, but to walk beside you, beside your spouse or parent, and be an additional loving presence in all of your lives. And if you allow MorningStar to take over as Care Manager, the two of you are free to reestablish a balanced relationship. Share a laugh. Enjoy each other.
We know. Because we’ve been there too.
Many of us have walked this road with our own aging moms and dads. We too have marked the passage of time, and seen the need for a lifestyle adjustment. We’ve done our own rounds of research, prayer and heart-to-hearts. We have helped disburse the possessions, sell the home-place of half a century, make the tender decisions.
Yes, we’ve been there ourselves. Which is partly why we’re so inspired to serve you with excellence.
“The joy of making others happy—that’s what my own parents taught me, that’s why I love being a caregiver at MorningStar. If I can make our residents laugh or make their day by helping with a little something—well, that’s the biggest reward I could ask for.” (Andrea, Care Manager & Medication Care Manager)
