• Independent Living
• Assisted Living
• Memory Care
MorningStar at RidgeGate is dedicated to creating a beautiful, vibrant home where your retirement years can be carefree. MorningStar offers a lifestyle of comfort, wellness and community, unmatched by other senior living facilities, and a hospitality and care team who feel called to serve seniors.
MorningStar’s exceptional architecture and award-winning design will impress you from the first. These graciously-appointed spaces are extensions of your private suite, polished and ready to receive your family and friends any time: art studio, eCafe, expansive gathering places, saline swimming pool, fitness center, interior park and reserved underground parking.
Perfectly situated in the heart of Lone Tree, MorningStar offers every possible neighborhood amenity to its residents: Lone Tree Arts Center to the west, the new Douglas County library to the north, SkyRidge Medical Center a block to its east and the luxury shopping and entertainment district of Park Meadows to its north. As the centerpiece of such vibrant suburban life, MorningStar will be the sought-out destination for the broader community, a place that invites entire families and civic groups to gather.
MorningStar at RidgeGate offers 124 bright suites for independent living, with penthouses as large as 1838 square feet. In an adjoining neighborhood are 71 suites for assisted living, including two-bedroom, two-bath floor plans. Within Reflections, we devote 29 secure suites to the individualized care of residents with memory impairment from Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Our brand new community is filling quickly with pre-reservations (residents begin moving in early January 2017). Our team has moved into the building and are eagerly offering daily tours. Going Purple: A Unplanned Journey into the World of Dementia
At MorningStar we know. Healing always comes from human touch, from empathy, from purposeful engagement. That’s what brings us back from the edge.
Ronda Lunnon, Executive Director at MorningStar of RidgeGate, cites from her own extensive service in memory care: “Far from depressing, working with the memory-impaired I’ve found to be a blessing waiting to happen. When I walk into our Reflections neighborhood, I walk into a different world, where I play whatever part is needed for the sake of that resident, that day.”
In considering the consequences of dementia on family dynamics, Ronda offers hope. “This can be a time of great restoration in families. Barriers come tumbling down. Estrangements are mended. Parents, children, siblings can share at a deeper level of honesty.”
Within her own extended family, she discovered these truths too late. “Years ago, when my grandmother was beset with Alzheimer’s, my mom—all of us— refused to accept what we saw as a dismal future. In fear and frustration, we pressed Grandma. ‘Don’t you remember this?; don’t you remember that?; come on, try harder.’”
Today Ronda knows better. “Families can get beyond the heartache, dwelling not on what’s lost, but on the surprise in what’s found. You can learn to enter this present moment, embracing what comes, whatever comes.
“But first you must move past denial and, above all, educate yourself,” Ronda continues. “Read, ask, listen. Absolutely join a support group through the Alzheimer’s Association. Call its HelpLine. These resources make the journey so much easier, giving you coping skills and relief from the intense frustration and guilt that invariably attend. You can learn not only to recognize ransomed moments, but create them, and be blessed through them.
“My grandmother eventually knew her husband of 70 years only as ‘Friend John.’ Theirs was for decades a rocky marriage, made so largely by John’s roughness. Yet, in the end, in her dementia, she would call out daily, longing to see him. The past—the not-so-pleasant past— had blissfully faded. All that remained was her friend, John. The last three years were the best of their entire marriage. My mom commented often that she wouldn’t have missed witnessing that healing for anything.”

MorningStar Chef Greg Takes Top Prize
The Colorado Pork Producers Council presented “Taste of Elegance” on April 30,
a benefit for the state’s Future Farmers
of America Foundation and ACF Colorado Chefs Education Fund. Our own Executive Chef Greg Sever (MorningStar of Littleton). Greg’s baby back ribs and country-style terrine was awarded first place by a
People’s Choice judging system. We’re so proud…and yum.
Greg is president of Rocky Mountain Chefs of Colorado (RMCC), where he is also an instructor (indeed two of our current kitchen team members are his students). See here a promotional video for the school with an interview of Chef.
All of my career and life experiences, and all the love and wisdom my family showed me, have brought me to this place called MorningStar. Here I have the pleasure of hearing their stories of the past, and enjoying the laughter of seniors as they experience new friendships and activities. The chance to love, learn from, and serve seniors is truly a gift from God.” (Director of Community Relations)
Part of ensuring excellent senior assisted living services is helping residents maintain their independence. Toward this goal, we offer a calendar of daily activities, all of which advance what we call WellStar, our signature program encompassing the physical, intellectual, spiritual and social facets of wellness. Yet the feature we brag about the most, the one that attracts the most attention, is our atmosphere of love, built one sincere relationship at a time. By this, we can—and do—offer the very best in senior independent living, assisted living, memory care and respite care, with a full-time Licensed Nurses and 24-hour Care Staff.
Our entire staff is engaged in finding ways to build a spirit of community. Even for short-term stays (trial stays in our independent living neighborhood) and respite stays (for recuperation in our assisted living neighborhood), there’s the promise of new friendships. And for the most tender among us, our memory care residents, each day presents opportunities to stimulate the brain and find moments of spontaneous joy.
