Our Parker Community to Triple in Size
Construction is progressing briskly on Parker Senior Living by MorningStar, an independent and assisted living building on the southern end of our campus. The new four-story building will feature 103 suites (49 for Independent Living and 54 for Assisted Living) with suites as large as 1609 square feet (including three styles of penthouses). The Independent Living suites will include a washer/dryer, full kitchen and balcony. The common areas will include an indoor pool, game room, private dining room, (for small dinner parties), bistro, library, theatre, general store, fitness center, wellness center (with therapy) and a large community room (to be used not only for resident gatherings but the Parker community at large). See renderings of the full campus, to be completed in early 2016, within our Photo Gallery.
Parker Assisted Living by MorningStar named “Leader in Dementia Care” by Alzheimer’s Association
To help families research memory care communities, the Alzheimer’s Association established a program called “Recognized Leaders in Dementia Care.” To be so designated, a senior living community is required to enroll 75% of its staff in an eight-hour training that encompasses brain pathology, communication techniques, and methods of lessening agitation with non-pharmaceuticals. Colorado is the only Alzheimer’s Association chapter in the country offering this special program. Parker Assisted Living by MorningStar is proud to have earned this special recognition of our expertise in serving the memory-impaired, with 95% of our staff thus trained. Go and – Learn More.
Parker Assisted Living by MorningStar is proud to be the first assisted living community in Colorado to offer technology that enables those with hearing aids to receive audio directly to their instruments without reverberation or background noise.
Installed in our Activities Room and Theatre/Chapel, this “hearing loop” will greatly improve our residents’ ability to understand and participate. The system provides the clearest, cleanest sound imaginable, yet does not require a headset, as it works with the T-Coil (or Telecoil) with which most hearing aids are equipped.
A T-coil is a tiny wireless receiver inside hearing aids, accessible via the programming button. Consult your audiologist to confirm it has been activated. You will be amazed at its effect.
For those without hearing aids or T-coils in their aids, headsets are available to help them hear through the loop.
When the time is right, allow us to share with you our passion for serving seniors.
