Cultivating Leadership: MorningStar’s Empowering Training Programs
MorningStar Senior Living remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering leadership and professional development among team members, exemplified through MorningStar University.
Through our Coordinator and Culinary training programs we identify and nurture future leaders within MorningStar communities.
At the heart of MorningStar University (MSU) is our desire to see team members grow professionally within a culture of Radiance that exhorts us to servant-leadership.
Executive Directors and other leaders actively pinpoint "shining stars” within our team, men and women who exhibit great potential, urging them to apply to MSU to propel their careers with us. The application window is late summer to fall, and candidates must be part of a community for 6-9 months before we can evaluate their candidacy.
The application process involves a straightforward yet comprehensive approach. Team members must submit an essay, a resume, and obtain a letter of recommendation. This year, applicants also embraced a unique touch by recording their responses to interview questions via video.
MSU curriculum is currently organized along two tracks –Coordinator and Culinary. This flexibility enables team members to choose a path aligned with their interests and aspirations. The program is crafted as an exclusive, practical annual opportunity, preparing candidates for the role of Reflections Coordinator (RC), Assisted Living Coordinator (ALC), Life Enrichment Coordinator (LEC), or Executive Chef in a MorningStar community.
Graduates of the program receive first-priority interviews for open positions, contingent on their performance, qualifications, and availability. The program spans 11 months, requiring participants to meet once a week from January to November.
Candidates completing the program are rewarded with a trip to the MorningStar Home Office in Denver, CO. Here, they apply lessons learned in some of our Colorado communities. Culinary students collaborate with top chefs, creating and presenting a meal for Home Office executives. Coordinator students shadow and assist leading Coordinators. At week’s end, students take part in a formal graduation ceremony. This year saw 22 team members successfully graduate from MSU!
By recognizing and investing in potential leaders, we form outstanding teams that invest generously in our seniors! Do you have a heart to serve? Check out a career with MorningStar HERE.
