Canned Food Drive
MorningStar Arrowhead is giving back to the community. During the month of February, we are celebrating National Canned Food Month. Seemingly limitless varieties of canned foods appear on today's supermarket shelves, offering a wide variety of nutritious alternatives to fresh fruits and vegetables and make quick, convenient meals. There are many benefits of canned food as canned fruits and vegetables are preservative-free; the canning process (high temperatures and sterile containers) destroys organisms that would cause spoilage making for a long shelf life. Additionally, canned foods are nutritious, convenient, and portable. Throughout the month of February, we invite all those with an interest in helping others to become involved! MorningStar Arrowhead is joining forces with St. Mary's Food Bank in hosting a food drive. A food drive is an easy way to collect non-perishable food items for the Food Bank to distribute to the most in need. Please drop off non-perishable items at our community's reception area. Having trouble deciding what type of food to bring? The top ten most wanted items are: Cereal, Canned Fruits and Vegetables, Rice, Beans, Pasta, Tuna, Canned Soups and Stews, Diapers, Juice, and Peanut Butter.
