Glimpses of the Heart

ExitTiana JacksonSenior Executive DirectorWhen I ponder those who have most influenced my long career in senior care, I think of Dee, a former colleague whose passion, respect, model of servant-leadership has motivated and shaped me. And of course I have met many spectacular seniors who have taught me many life lessons through their stories.

ExitEugene RamirezReflections AdministratorI took care of my grandfather in his last years, an experience that made me a better person and prepared me for a career I love. My experiences with seniors over the last 10 years are invaluable. The feeling I get from serving them is difficult to describe. They are family.

ExitDarlene FurrowWellness NurseI have been working with seniors as a nurse for 27 years. As a young woman I saw how wonderfully my grandfather was treated when his health was failing. I wanted to be part of a team that made that kind of difference when people needed it most. In return, seniors teach us so much like the importance of family and resilience. Listening to their experiences is amazing. I hope as I age to carry myself as this Greatest Generation has so beautifully done.

ExitKelley GravelleDirector Community RelationsGrandmother Hilda (“Oma”) was the first senior I ever loved, and the strongest person I have ever known. She converted her 4-bedroom house into a space where my mom and her children could live as well. All my pictures of Oma capture her working to make that house a home. From her I inherited a “serving heart,” a desire to take care of others. I now offer up that heart at MorningStar, whose mission and purpose align with my own beliefs of how seniors and their families are to be cherished.

ExitCalvin JenningsDirector Community RelationsAs a child of working parents, I was practically raised by Grandma Elaine. She taught me how to read and how to love with my whole heart. I owe everything I am to her. With every senior I help to find a safe and happy home, I am honoring Grandma and paying her back for all the love I received. And from seniors, I learn to cherish family and treat friends and neighbors with respect.
