Glimpses of the Heart
When I consider the seniors who have had the most influence on me, I think of
Dutch. 27 years ago when I was a caregiver in Willoughby, OH. Dutch was one of the residents who embraced me as his own. He was very thankful with every little thing. Caring for him made me realize that I make a difference. Albert Schweitzer once said: The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others. My values align with those of MorningStar. When I read about its origins and Founder Ken Jaeger’s inspiration, it gave me goosebumps. Our mission says a lot about what we stand for as a company.
Seniors teach me that life is short and precious, so we must enjoy and make the
most of every day with loved ones, being grateful for the simple things. When first I researched MorningStar, I loved most on the website its declaration of a Mission to honor God in business practices and relationships and its “Radiance” brand standard of care.
Dir, Community Relations
I cannot think of a person to whom I felt more close than my grandmother.
I visited her often on the East Coast, and when not together, we were devoted pen pals. She listened to pop music just a little too loud, had a penchant for shopping, and treated family and strangers the same: with fierce love and compassion. I learned so much from her on how to be yourself, to persevere, and to do your absolute best to leave this world better than you found it.
