    The first senior that I have ever loved was my grandmother, Mere’Mere’. After losing my grandfather in 1994, she and I became even more attached. When Mere’Mere’ was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I moved back to New Orleans to care for her. That experience was the driving force in training as a geriatric nurse for I wanted nothing more than to care for other people’s grandparents. The wisdom seniors have can only be appreciated if you take the time to sit and listen to their stories.
