I loved time with my Grandmere, who at 4’10” sported purple or bright red hair depending on her mood. On weekends, she kept us kids busy in the vegetable garden. In our large family Grandmere remembered every name, age and birthday, making each grandchild feel special. Every birthday we would get $6 in the mail. Every Christmas she would give us vitamin C tablets to “keep us healthy”!
My Mamaw (great-grandma) was the first senior I ever loved. She loved everyone and kept our family together. I plan to be like her. Coming to MorningStar from a fast-paced healthcare setting, I welcome the opportunity to slow down and truly get to know our residents well. MorningStar’s core values are our distinguishing mark. Spreading radiance daily makes me a happier, healthier person, knowing I have touched someone’s heart.
My grandmother’s name was Lila Bell (a name I sang out every time I saw her!). She was a gem—reserved and conservative in every way. She taught us how to be ladies and what that truly meant. She and Grandpa Van would pile us kids into the car for regular visits to the local nursing home where we sang, read Scriptures and ministered to the heart. Thanks to my grandparents, seniors have been central to my life for as long as I can remember.
My Abuelo was the first and most impacting senior I loved. I admired his hard work, dedication and achievements. He taught me that all things can be done with the right mindset and plan in place. He pushed me to never settle for anything less and was the tough love I needed to mature. What attracted me to MorningStar was the core values. Seeing that not only do we provide radiant service to residents, but to those in need locally and globally. This company is founded on love, service and a culture of excellence. They honor all who walk through their doors.
