Glimpses of the Heart
Nonni was the most amazing grandmother anyone could ever have,
and not only because of her Italian cooking. She influenced me in so many ways as my best friend and best teacher of life’s lessons. In her last years, she struggled with Alzheimer’s, by which I became a passionate advocate for all those living with dementia. Seniors have built our country, our very world. The best lessons life has to offer us have been brought forward by them, generation by generation. Their contributions are indescribable.

difficult times Grandma Ruth went through explains why she was as strong she was. From her, I have learned that patience, kindness and forgiveness are what’s necessary to be genuinely happy in this life. The life lessons all seniors share with me is a precious gift. At MorningStar the level of care residents receive is far greater than I have seen anywhere else. And the culture they have created is astounding.
Dir, Community Relations
I was drawn to MorningStar for the most familial of reasons: my own
grandparents lived in our community, and absolutely loved it. In her final few months, MorningStar made grandma’s life so easy and enjoyable. Tenderizing my heart even more to work in senior living is my dad, who suffers from the early onset of Alzheimer’s. Our family’s dementia journey positions me uniquely to help others with this unfortunate disease.
