Glimpses of the Heart
- ExitRandy EastExecutive DirectorGrandmother Polly helped to raise me; in return I became her teenage caregiver when she developed early onset Alzheimer’s. She helped me more than she could have known after the sudden death of my mother. Polly was loving, funny, soulful and caring. I am who I am because of her. It was Grandma who implored me to go into healthcare, saying I had healing hands. I have taken her direction to heart, and treat every resident with the dignity I would expect for my own grandmother. MorningStar understands the importance of rising to the occasion of serving residents who trust in us with their lives.
- ExitSarah TimpeWellness DirectorGrowing up, I was very close with my grandparents. They were always very caring and we made many memories together. Seniors lose a lot of independence as they age and it is very hard on them. If I can make a resident smile at least once in the day I have done my job, I love learning about their past and the places they have been. Whatever our age, we all require the same things: emotional support, connection with other people, a sense of purpose and days full of variety.
- ExitTracy NorrisDirector Community RelationsI was fortunate to grow up in the company of all four grandparents who lived near our family home, two in a small town, two on a farm. They had a wealth of knowledge to share on perseverance and courage in the face of adversity. Their best advice was that laughter really is the best medicine. Seeing them active in their communities modeled the importance of caring for our neighbors. Truly, we are all better together. It is my privilege to help older adults continue to contribute their wisdom and talents to the world.
