MorningStar’s Parker Community
Independent, Assisted Living & Memory Care
Since 2012, when MorningStar of Parker first opened assisted living and memory care in Parker, we have dedicated ourselves to offering residents the finest care within a genuine family atmosphere. Our original building offers 45 assisted living suites as studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans on two levels.
In our Reflections neighborhood, devoted to the individualized care of those with memory impairment, we have 19 secure studios in our original building and 24 more studios and one-bedrooms in an adjoining building which opened December 2014.
Luxury, Award Winning Senior Living in a Vibrant Community
As further evidence of our success in living out the MorningStar mission, our lovely senior community expanded still further with the January 2016 opening of a new building on the southern end of our campus, this one designed for luxury independent & assisted living. The new four-story building features 49 Independent Living suites and 54 Assisted Living suites (as large as 1609 square feet, including three styles of penthouses).
MorningStar of Parker is at the crossroads of the quaint town of Parker, Colorado, a southeast suburb of Denver. Banks, hospitals, malls and restaurants are nearby as part of the attractions of a metropolitan city.
Our team works hard to offer our residents a quality of life other senior living facilities simply cannot match. MorningStar of Parker has become a centerpiece of vibrant life in the town of Parker, a place that invites entire families and civic groups to gather. MorningStar’s exceptional architecture and design will impress you from the first. Our graciously-appointed spaces are extensions of your private suite, polished and ready to receive your family and friends anytime.
Award Winning Interior Design
At a regional awards gala in August 2016, the American Society of Interior Designers named Thoma-Holec Design (MorningStar’s longtime interior design firm):
3rd place, Special Function Spaces: MorningStar of Parker Great Room
Honorable Mention, Hospitality: MorningStar of Parker Great Room
While proud of these coveted industry citations, Thoma-Holec is especially proud when they see our residents enjoying the environments they so lovingly created.
Frequently Asked Questions about MorningStar of Parker
How many senior living suites are within your entire campus? 191 suites (99 Assisted Living, 49 Independent Living, 43 Memory Care).
Smoking permitted? Ours is a smoke-free campus for the health benefit of all.
Are you pet friendly? Absolutely! In addition to our house dog, we welcome the pets of residents. Certain breed and weight restrictions apply. There is a one-time Pet Fee. For those who need help caring for their pet, we also have a monthly Pet Service (optional, fee applies).

How does access control work for IL residents? Except for the primary IL and AL foyer entry doors, all doors are locked 24/7. These doors are accessible 24/7 via a simple key fob. The same fob is used to access the elevator and a standard key is used for an apartment door. These access points are the only controlled-access locations, thereby limiting key usage while maximizing security and unwanted visitors. All solicitation is strictly controlled at foyer check-in locations.
Tell me about the swimming pool? In both our heated 45’ x 25’ pool and 12’ x 8’ jetted spa, we have opted to add ozone, which cuts the chlorine by 50%. This site explains the benefits of ozone further: Delozone.com. The pool’s depth ranges from 3’6” to 4’6” with a dedicated lap lane, ease of entry, underwater seating and side-mounted exercise bars.
What is the pricing structure?
In all three neighborhoods, our suites are rented, month-to-month (vacate with 30-day notice in Assisted; 90-day notice in Independent). Unique to Parker and the surrounding areas, MorningStar is not a buy-in community and, therefore, does not require a large upfront investment.

For the lively population at MorningStar of Parker, this includes making all the arrangements for major outings (e.g., cruises).

Is Valet Service available? Full Valet Service is not currently available (drop car off at front door for staff to park, call down for vehicle to be brought down) due to insurance and staffing requirements. However, we will offer car prep service, including snow removal.
What does the outdoor patio feature? It includes dual BBQ grills (staff-managed), a fire pit with seating area, walking paths, shade trellis and extensive landscaping.
What type of nursing staff do you have? As with all of our assisted living and memory care communities, we have trained and dedicated care staff, led by an Assisted Living Coordinator and Reflections (Memory Care) Coordinator. Additionally, we have a full-time Wellness Director (RN or LPN) and an additional Wellness Nurse (RN or LPN), both on call 24-7. In our Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods, there is an emergency call button in each room of the suite, including the bathroom.
Emergency Response? If there is an emergency in Independent Living, residents push their call button (if they choose to have one) or call the Concierge. Someone on staff arrives and ascertains if paramedics are needed. If there is an emergency in Assisted Living, residents push one of the call buttons in their suite or their pendant, or call the Concierge. Someone on the care staff arrives and ascertains if our Wellness Director or 911 should be called.
Are Independent Living residents given preferred placement in Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods? Of course, depending on availability at the time of the needed move.
Is there an additional fee for moving to a different room when more care is needed? No additional community fee is paid. No transfer fee applies, if the move is care-related. Of course, we will work with you to ensure a smooth transition, and help engage local movers, though you would be responsible for moving costs.
Describe the Independent Living Meal Plan. Our plan gives you flexibility to purchase as many meals at the beginning of the month as you wish (though they do not roll over to the next month).
What about room service meals? We do offer. There is a $7 service fee in addition to the meal itself.
Do you have model suites? Yes, one in Independent Living and two in Assisted Living, which you are welcome to tour by appointment.
Have you space planning exhibits for each of suites? Yes, with each of the major wall lengths called out. Just ask our Director of Community Relations.
Describe the kitchen in an Independent Living suite: Contemporary design with islands (in most units); high-quality stainless steel appliances with black trim, including a glass top stove, garbage disposal, dishwasher, full-sized side-by-side refrigerator with water and ice maker, and above-stove microwave and/or hood with vent. 3CM premium granite countertops with under-granite dual basin sinks, brushed nickel plumbing fixtures, under-cabinet lighting, glass tile backsplashes, 36″ Shaker cabinets with crown moulding, most with Lazy Susan. Flooring is luxury vinyl tile.
Are washers and dryers included in the Independent Living suites? Yes. Some suite varieties have side-by-side appliances in a laundry room; others have a stackable washer/dryer in their own closet. Our Director of Community Relations will be glad to call out which on our full floor plans. For the stackable units: washer is top loading; dryer is accessible without having to bend down. All washer/dryers are by GE.
What type of doors are on the smaller closets? Bypass doors are used for clothes closets and bi-fold for washer/dryer closets.
CHANGES TO SUITE
Can my flooring type be changed in my unit in any way? Sorry, no. Because of sound and impact noise prevention from floor-to-floor and for other reasons, flooring type may not be modified in any way.
Can an accent wall be painted a different color, or may any entire room be re-painted? Yes with prior approval, and must be installed by our staff.
Is there recycling? Yes
How does the resident phone system work? The phone system works like that at a resort, except that the resident can bring his or her own phone and even port over an existing phone number.
Comcast or Direct TV? We are still in negotiations with providers.
MorningStar of Parker named “Leader in Dementia Care” by Alzheimer’s Association
To help families research memory care communities, the Alzheimer’s Association established a program called “Recognized Leaders in Dementia Care.” To be so designated, a senior living community is required to enroll 75% of its staff in an eight-hour training that encompasses brain pathology, communication techniques, and methods of lessening agitation with non-pharmaceuticals. Colorado is the only Alzheimer’s Association chapter in the country offering this special program. MorningStar of Parker is proud to have earned this special recognition of our expertise in serving the memory-impaired, with 95% of our staff thus trained. Go and – Learn More.
Named in 2016 and 2015 the “Best of the Best” Retirement Community in Parker by Colorado Community Media. Named in 2014 as one of 11 Colorado communities to America’s Best Assisted Living Communities by Caring.com.

Glimpses of the Heart
The life lessons seniors have taught me over the years have been priceless, fueling my passion
to return service from the heart to those who have made so much possible for us to enjoy today. The first seniors I ever loved were my grandparents, Gladstone and Violet, who inculcated in me the values of integrity, hard work and humility. The MorningStar core values are the core values of life.
I was fortunate to live across the street from my maternal grandparents growing up. We had a
very close relationship. Our whole family would go on camping trips, summer picnics and cozy Christmases around the fireplace. Seniors have been through so much in their lifetimes, more dramatic events it seems than any other generation. Despite the struggles that typified their earlier years, and the bitterness they might have chosen, seniors choose to be appreciative of the lessons learned.
Director, Community Relations
Grandpa Joe is the first senior I ever loved, and the most generous, humorous and inspiring human
being I have ever met. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the love, support and guidance Grandpa has so selflessly given me. I look forward to every moment I spend with him knowing I will walk away having learned something new about life.

Testify to Love
“Praises from local senior moving specialists on the thoughtful design features of our newest suites.”
“My mother has undergone an incredible transformation since moving to MorningStar two months ago. To appreciate this dramatic story, it’s necessary to review what our mother was like for most of her adult life.
Despite being surrounded by a family who loved her, Mom was an angry, suspicious, nervous woman. Suffering as she did from depression and anxiety, for six decades she never left the house unaccompanied by a family member. Her social disorder prevented her from making any new friends that entire time. After my father passed away in 2000, Mom moved to an independent living apartment. Though meals were provided, she never ate in the dining room nor interacted with others.
Fast forward to 2015, when, at age 93, we moved her to MorningStar, recognizing she needed more assistance, Mom was greatly dismayed, and, frankly, terrified.
Not only did your wonderful staff ease her transition, you achieved the miraculous! She went from being totally anti-social to sitting at the head of a long dining table with fellow residents. The blood pressure spikes that were her norm have not occurred since taking up residency here.
Your staff took a woman who had been unhappy most of her life, and gently introduced her to a caring, loving staff who were able to change her outlook on life. You gave her back the joy of companionship with peers so long lacking. You have given her the security of being well cared for on a daily basis. You have achieved what our family was not able to do: a healthier, happier, calmer mother, who at 93 has found a new lease on life.”
“I did considerable research before my mother moved to PALM, but for both of us the decision was an easy one. We love the size, the homey atmosphere…this place is tops! I cannot even begin to name all of the outstanding employees you have. The care managers are exceptional; they listen carefully, and answer questions over and over without ever getting frustrated or short! It is crucial that my mother is happy—I love her dearly—and as hard as it was for her to give up living alone, we both know this was the right decision. She is so happy here, thus, I am happy!”
“I want to slip in a big hug for your team at MorningStar. I am continually amazed at the care, love and best of all, the giggles they share with the residents in Reflections (Memory Care). I wasn’t able to be in the community for a few days, yet felt such support for Mom the whole time. My husband was able to be there and observed such great care and kindness. Thank you. Not an easy time, but your staff is so wise, helpful and loving. The work you all do at MorningStar is precious.”
“When visiting recently, I noticed that all residents looked calm, happy and peaceful…and sparkly clean, attention having been given to hair, attire and even nails. I saw staff giving Mom and others supreme care and respect, with love and gentleness. Mom is able to shower herself under a caregiver’s direction; this is fantastic!! And for each of my visits, she was wearing something I had given her…amazing and a ray of sunshine. MorningStar can know they are on the right path when attention to the residents equals the beautiful decor.”
In 2018, Parker Senior Living by MorningStar was the 3rd highest fundraiser across all Colorado care communities.
