LIVE TWICE THE STORY
Enjoy these miracle moments of connecting and caring
When I first started working with seniors, I knew that was what I was meant to do. I cherish the moments that I get to spend with the residents and love being able to provide a great experience for them. At MorningStar it was very apparent that they believe in and live by their mission. The Christ-centered core values instilled throughout the company resonate with my personal life and is one of the reasons that distinguishes MorningStar from other companies.
I was blessed to have five grandparents (one Grandpa by marriage) and they all played an important role in my childhood. There is nothing more special than Grandma’s house, and now I get to work at “Grandma’s house”—how awesome is that?! There isn’t any job in the world like serving seniors. Every day is a new opportunity to make a difference and create memories. Seniors are a beautiful reminder that it is our responsibility to love and care for one another. They teach me about patience, resilience and understanding.
The first senior I ever loved was Grandma Helen who raised me the first five years of my life. Some of my fondest memories with her were cooking lessons and trips to Sears & Roebuck. She had a great sense of humor. Seniors reflect who we are and will become. They are a symbol of wisdom and it’s an honor to serve them. Seniors teach me to appreciate others. To have patience and be open, to learn new things no matter what age I am.
The first senior I loved was Grandfather Quentin (“Papa”). My sister and I were always excited to visit when we were kids. He and Grandma (“Nana”) made the best popcorn and BBQ. And the four of us had a riot playing card games like Skip-Bo.. I feel called to server seniors because they were the ones taking care of us when we were kids. I want to be able to give back and make sure they feel loved, appreciated and purposeful.
