- ExitMarcus SeguraExecutive DirectorAt 17, working as a dishwasher in a senior community, I grew connected to a resident named Phyllis. It was the running joke that Philly had a boyfriend, and it was me. I learned that if you listen to and observe seniors, their wisdom is unparalleled. I found myself speaking up when things weren’t right, and wanting to come in during off-hours just because life with seniors was so fulfilling. After getting a degree in social work, senior living proved to be the purpose God set out for me. Elders have grounded me throughout my life, beginning with my Grandma “Gomi” who rooted me to care, learn, teach and to be kind.

I can remember being around her from my youngest days…going on walks, eating great homemade food, learning to love one another, and more importantly spread love and kindness to those beyond our family. The time spent with Grandma molded me into the man, father and caregiver I am today, and pushes me to go above and beyond in day-to-day life. Seniors teach us patience and communication. In a world of fast paced environments, taking time to listen is much needed.
- ExitTabor KlausingDir Community RelationsMy life started with admiration and pure love for my grandmother, Mamie. The most genuine, kind-hearted, spiritual woman, she sought positivity in every person and situation while spreading love to all. Anyone who interacts with Mamie is bound to leave with a warmed heart. I have always worked toward being that positive presence. Seniors molded our universe; we have everything to learn from them. Today may be the age of technology but our elders developed the foundation by hand, pure imagination, creativity and hard work. They are not afraid to be real and tell you the good or the bad, so lessons can be learned.
