LIVE TWICE THE STORY
Enjoy these miracle moments of connecting and caring
The first seniors I ever loved were my paternal grandparents, Ignacio and Inocensia, who took guardianship of me when I was 5 years old. Grandmother became “Mom” while grandfather was always “Uelo” (short for abuelo). They instilled in me the value of selfless service and being present. Though the middle grandchild, I was dubbed the responsible one, assigned as caregiver to siblings older and younger than myself. Years later it’s easy to explain the career I love: being an advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves. I love the connection I make with residents, the unconditional love they give with no ulterior motive and I, in turn, give them. There is no greater feeling.
The first senior I ever loved was my Grandma who had Alzheimer’s. She is one of the key reasons I became a Nurse, inspired further by the way my entire family rallied around Grandma to love and care for her. She taught me how to bring out my best self through love and passion, lessons I intend to put into practice at MorningStar. The mission of MorningStar resonates with me. I’m honored to be a part of it.
