We recently renovated our community which includes beautiful new paint, carpet, art, and furnishings in all hallways and common areas. The suites were renovated as needed with contemporary carpet and paint. Our well-designed floor plans include studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom configurations. Our independent living cottages include a floor plan with over 1,225 square feet of space.

MorningStar of Billings is located on the west end of Billings, the largest city in Montana, in a beautiful, park-like neighborhood in a country setting near shopping centers and the medical community. Montana was awarded the #7 ranking by MSN.com in its 2015 article, “The 10 Best States for Retirement,” in recognition of its nice weather, low cost of living, reasonable taxes (well below national average), and scenic beauty. The city is home to four golf courses and just short ride from Red Lodge, Montana, with its charming, historic buildings and an array of winter and summer adventures.

I feel honored to serve the people who live at MorningStar. Giving back to our elders, who have given so much through their lives, is what I love about my job and MorningStar. I want everyone who comes into our community to feel the joy we have each and every day in being together.

If I had to focus on one beloved grandparent, it would be Grandma Charlene, my first pen pal and the most adventurous in my family. She journaled daily, jotting down meaningful quotes, one of which I eventually had tattooed on my arm. Grandma was a nurse and made sure everyone was treated with respect and dignity, regardless of circumstances. It’s natural and comforting to me to be around seniors. I come to work every day to bring a smile to residents’ faces as well as remind them they are loved and valued. While each generation faces challenges, the sacrifices seniors have lived through are commendable; they deserve to enjoy this time in their lives with peace of mind and camaraderie.

The first senior I ever loved was my maternal grandfather, Papa. He would invite me to sit on his lap then ask me to tell him a story. Though he passed away when I was 5, he made quite an impression by wanting to listen to my little girl stories. Seniors teach us so much. Listening to how they overcame struggles gives us strength to press on. I love hearing how they creatively solved problems. My favorites are the stories that make their eyes sparkle.

A simple rule by which I live my life: To do everything as if in the “light of day.” I would never do something or say anything that I would not say in the bright light of day. I govern my actions as if my grandmother were looking over my shoulder, and I would not want to embarrass her. I want to always do the right thing in order to make an impact on those I meet. I watch, listen and learn to be the best I can be. As Mother Teresa once said, "Yesterday is gone, tomorrow has not arrived...let us begin."

I don’t really know where to start. My mother lived in Morning Star independent living for about 17 months and then the memory care for about 3 months before she passed away on April 25. The people that work at Morning Star are the most amazing people!! They treat the residents and their families with love and kindness. They go beyond the call of duty.

GOOGLE REVIEWS
My husband and I have lived at Morning Star for nearly three years; it's a wonderful place! The staff is well trained and extremely accommodating. We find our apartment more than adequate for the two of us. If we wish, we can be busy every day with a plethora of activities, and the food is excellent! What more can one ask for?
