The exceptional architecture and design of MorningStar Senior Living of Hillsboro community is sure to impress, but so too will our array of resort-style amenities, services and dedicated service staff. Throughout our community you will enjoy graciously appointed common areas inside and out.
While MorningStar is new to Hillsboro, MorningStar Senior Living has two open communities in the area, MorningStar of Beaverton, MorningStar of Happy Valley and a community under development in Laurelhurst. Our company takes tremendous pride in the reputation we have earned for excellence and authenticity since our inception in 2003. We belief the human capacity to grow, to learn and to contribute is ageless; and we act upon that truth daily, as we care for, inspire, and love the residents under our roof. Grandma Carol taught me to be compassionate and understanding. An animal lover, she has always said that every living creature deserves respect and love. Grann Ann, a retired principal, taught me to stand on my own two feet and not be afraid to go against the mold. We owe our entire selves to those who helped make us who we were. I learned from those who came before me and am who I am today because of their lessons. Seniors are the wisest among us and can help you as much as you can help them. I don’t think our culture does enough to revere our seniors.
My dad, Marvin, made every effort to spend time with my brothers and me, giving us the love and attention we all needed. As he aged and asked for more help with various things, I found it fulfilling to now be there for him. I realized I wanted to use my culinary skills to give back to all seniors. Serving them, their families and friends is far more rewarding than any other chef position I have held. MorningStar inspires an atmosphere where Patience, Love and Respect are at our roots for the benefit of all who call this community home. It is as amazing to work for a company who treats employees with dignity and honor.
Grandma Betsy has been a staple in my life since the day I was born, pushing me to aim high and never settle. She has been my biggest supporter, taking me to lunch during college and at one point offering to enroll in for the same classes to make sure I was able to make it through. Through her I have learned to cherish and nurture relationships. I feel called to serve seniors by seeing first-hand the impact of community life. I have seen seniors go from eating alone in their own home to regaining a sense of independence and purpose.
