Glimpses of the Heart

ExitKerri FelixExecutive DirectorThe first senior I ever loved was Raymond Clarke, known to me as Grampy. I didn’t ever think of him as a senior though; he was just my favorite guy…with white hair. I used to love watching him comb it, what little hair there was. Seniors teach us to be humble; compliments are to be mindfully given and graciously accepted. They teach us to be respectful of time, a precious commodity not be wasted. It is an absolute privilege to have the opportunity to serve them every day; and to serve alongside team members who daily exhibit the core value of kindness.

ExitNicole BakerWellness DirectorThe first Senior I ever loved was Grandpa Jim, or as others knew him, “Big Jim.” He was funny, kind and always made us laugh with his silly jokes. Grandpa was the glue of our family. Seniors have taught me to live life to the fullest, to stop and enjoy the little things. They have shown me that family is the most important thing you have in life, and just how precious that life is. At MorningStar, team members are treated like family. The company not only goes above and beyond to care for seniors, but they extend that reach around the world with orphan care and clean water initiatives.

ExitJennifer CadaDirector Community RelationsI learned how important it was to make others feel “seen” from the first seniors I loved: Grandma Helen & Grandpa James, who went out of their way every time I visited to make me feel special. Today it is an honor to be in the presence of those who have so much life story and wisdom to share. I want seniors to know they are special and seen. The most important lessons they teach us is being in the moment, being grateful for each day and the gifts we have been given, and taking nothing for granted.
