MorningStar Senior Living Celebrates Grand Opening of Old Town Community in Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, CO (July 17, 2024) — Co-developers MorningStar Senior Living, a fully integrated developer, owner and operator of premier retirement communities, and Haselden Real Estate Development have completed MorningStar at Old Town in Fort Collins, CO. MorningStar and Haselden partnered with local landowner and developer, J.D. Padilla, to create a unique, urban senior living experience in the heart of Old Town Fort Collins.
Located at 360 Tenney Court in Fort Collins at the corner of College Avenue and Cherry Street, this property delivers 160 units for independent living, assisted living and memory care in a four-story luxury residential building.
To celebrate the grand opening, project partners hosted an inaugural reception at the property in June with a ribbon-cutting led by Founder/CEO Ken Jaeger (pictured with Executive Director Candice Salas).
Expertly blending the signature architecture of Old Town, the project has set a new standard for senior living on the Front Range. A departure from the suburban senior community, MorningStar at Old Town is a mixed-use urban development rarely seen outside of major markets like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
Residents have walkable access to the shopping, restaurants and the craft culture of the historic district with Colorado State University up the street. Complementing the senior living space is first floor retail, another draw in this dynamic intergenerational area.
“We are pleased to open the second MorningStar in Fort Collins, our first on Lochwood Drive having opened in December 2015,” said Jaeger. “All of our homes are acclaimed for their graciously appointed spaces that foster community where residents can thrive spiritually, physically, intellectually and socially. With the opening of MorningStar at Old Town in our 21st year of service to seniors, we usher in a whole new concept in luxury retirement.”
“This Colorado project is another example of the first-class innovation in senior living we are proud to deliver alongside our development and investment partners,” said Matt Turner, Managing Partner of MorningStar. “We are confident that MorningStar’s purpose-built design and ideal location, together with our unique brand promise, will meet the needs of Fort Collins seniors and families for years to come.”
Resort-style amenities include an indoor pool, fitness center, therapy space, theatre/chapel and wine tasting room. The Sky Terrace, patios and courtyards offers serene outdoor space. Architectural photos attached.
The property was developed under “Whole Health Standards,” a holistic approach to the latest in healthy building technologies while enhancing resident physical and mental wellness, safety, comfort and quality of life. As health conditions dictate, assisted living residents are offered personalized support in the activities of daily living through 24-hour staffing and full-time licensed nurses.
The company’s vision to love and honor is not limited to senior communities. The MorningStar Foundation supports philanthropic initiatives in local neighborhoods and around the world, giving residents the opportunity to become part of something bigger and continue contributing to the broader neighborhood.
Project partners were Hord Coplan Macht (architect), Haselden (general contractor) and Thoma-Holec (interior designer).
