MorningStar of Hayward
Grand Re-Opening

The grand re-opening of the newly renovated MorningStar Senior of Haywood brings a new level of luxury living and the specialized services of a memory care neighborhood to the community.
Newly Renovated MorningStar of Hayward Opens Its Doors
With the grand re-opening of MorningStar Senior Living of Hayward, seniors dealing with the challenges of Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia have an exceptional new option for elevated living at this community that includes state-of-the-art memory care.
This new offering is the crowning touch on the extensive renovation of the seven-story community that began when MorningStar Senior Living took over the management of the property in May 2019. Located on the second floor of the building, the thoughtfully redesigned memory care neighborhood is a welcome addition to the community’s long-standing independent and assisted living options.
Bright and welcoming, this secure memory care gives seniors a choice of 35 studios and one-bedroom apartments. It provides access to spacious common areas as well as an outdoor sky deck where residents can socialize and soak up the sun in a safe environment.
As part of its dedication to taking senior living innovation to the next level, the community incorporates MorningStar’s signature Lavender Sky memory care philosophy which takes a holistic approach rooted in the unique history of each resident. Special offerings designed to enrich the lives of its residents are a mainstay of the program.
Memory care at MorningStar features BrainWise menus as well activities like pet and music therapies for mental stimulation and emotional calm. To ensure residents feel comfortable and secure, the program takes into account cultural sensitivities with proprietary dementia training for every member of the community’s professional team.
The special touches MorningStar provides as a national leader in dementia care don’t stop with the residents. Its Unforgettable series geared to families and the broader community is designed to educate anyone who might come in contact with one of the estimated 50 million people around the world coping with cognitive impairment.
MorningStar of Hayward now also boasts a larger dining room, an inviting bistro/bar, art studio, theater, fitness center and salon. All 227 resident suites have been updated and refurbished. Private patios and landscaped walking paths make the surrounds as inviting as the renovated interior.
Steps beyond the community’s doors are a wide variety of local attractions and amenities. These include the Hayward Senior Center, the Hayward Japanese Gardens and a burbling creek adjacent to the property, as well as the Douglas Morrison Little Theatre. Downtown Hayward with its many shops, restaurants, and medical offices is a few blocks away. For those willing to venture out further, there are abundant opportunities for bird and wildlife watching at Hayward Regional Shoreline, Don Castro Regional Recreation Area, and Sulphur Creek Nature Center.
Luxury living at MorningStar of Hayward is paired with healthy living. To keep residents fit and independent, MorningStar has partnered with ONR (Orthopedic and Neurological Rehabilitation) to provide integrated wellness. The community has a full-time Director of Rehab who heads ONR Touch, a concierge-style program with fitness and wellness education and classes as well as physical, occupational, and speech/language therapies. Residents can also take advantage of solutions for arthritic pain, cardiorespiratory, osteoporosis solutions.
MorningStar Senior Living of Hayward has taken the community, formerly known as Casa Sandoval, to new heights. Originally opened in 1989 and named for John Sandoval, a columnist for The Daily Review and official historian of Hayward and Alameda Counties, the newly revitalized property has honored his contributions by naming one of its dining rooms Café Sandoval.
And although MorningStar Senior Living of Hayward is the company’s first community in the San Francisco Bay area, it isn’t the last. MorningStar plans to bring more luxury living options to the region by opening three more communities in Berkeley and West San Jose.
