MorningStar’s “Quench” Event – Golfing and Giving Back

Impacting the world for good – that’s what the MorningStar Foundation is all about, and that’s exactly what took place Tuesday, August 8th, at our annual Quench charity golf event benefitting Lifewater International.
MorningStar is an abiding partner of Lifewater, investing in its transformative approach to provide clean water and sanitation to the world’s most remote areas while bringing the good news of Jesus Christ. Since 2019, we have supported their work throughout Ethiopia, where they have served hundreds of villages and impacted countless lives.
Each summer, MorningStar hosts our Quench golf tournament, inviting our partners to participate in or sponsor the event to further Lifewater’s mission to end the global water crisis. Nearly 200 golfers, sponsors and volunteers came together on Tuesday to make a difference, all while enjoying some fun competition on the golf course.
Members of Lifewater’s staff were also able to join us on the course, inviting golfers to participate in their “Lug the Jug” challenge. For one hole, golfers were to carry two 5-gallon water jugs, each weighing 40 pounds, and see how far they can make it. While it’s challenging for one hole, golfers learned that in Ethiopia, the average walk to collect water is 57 minutes. Women and children carry this weight and make this trek every single day, often times bringing back water that leads to severe waterborne disease.
Lifewater exists because they believe that every child and family deserves access to safe water. Through supporting their work, we are able to help make that a reality, and we couldn’t do it without the help of our partners and team members across the country.
This year, we raised over $185,000 to support over 3,000 people in remote regions of Ethiopia. These individuals will now see transformation in their villages, restoring their dignity and giving them hope for their futures.
In pursuit of excellence, MorningStar resolves to be a company of servant-minded, purpose-driven leaders in our senior communities and throughout the world. We are grateful to get to make a difference in the lives of our seniors every single day, and with that same heart, we are honored to be a part of such meaningful work around the world.
